Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a beloved classic RPG that offers a fun and engaging gameplay experience. One of the hidden gems in the game is the secret party member, Ms. Mowz. Unlocking her requires a bit of effort, as the game does a good job of hiding what you need to do. Ms. Mowz may not be the strongest in combat, but her field skill is incredibly useful, especially if you are determined to uncover all the secrets the game has to offer.

The side quest to unlock Ms. Mowz only becomes available after you return to Rogueport following the conclusion of Chapter 4 in Twilight Town. Head to the Trouble Center on the city’s eastern side and pick up the “Elusive Badge” side quest. Climb up to the roof of Zess T’s house, where you will meet “??? the questgiver,” who is none other than Ms. Mowz in disguise. She will task you with finding an elusive badge in Hooktail’s room and hint that the key to finding it lies in the power of the wind.

To find the elusive badge in Hooktail’s room, head back to Petalburg Outskirts and into Hooktail Castle. While the journey may seem tedious as all enemies (excluding Hooktail) have respawned, the puzzles in the castle are already solved, so you can bypass them if you wish. Make your way to the room where you previously fought the giant dragon in Chapter 1.

Once inside Hooktail’s room, bring Flurrie out from the Partner Wheel if she is not already with you. Use her field skill to blow away a hidden paper panel in the room’s center to reveal a chest. Unlike most panels in the game, this one has no visible edges, so you may need to adjust your positioning to uncover it properly.

Ms. Mowz is a unique party member with a mix of offensive and supportive abilities. In combat, she has a slap attack that ignores enemy defense and a skill that restores 10 HP to Mario. However, her true strength lies in her field skill, which allows her to sniff out hidden treasure. As you approach hidden treasure, Ms. Mowz will lift her nose in the air and become more animated as you get closer.

While Ms. Mowz may not have the highest damage output compared to other party members like Bobbery, Vivian, or Koops, she is invaluable for locating hidden treasure throughout the game. The Thousand-Year Door is filled with secret items, especially in the later chapters, so having Ms. Mowz on your team can greatly aid you in collecting valuable Star Pieces needed to purchase some of the best badges in the game.

Unlocking Ms. Mowz in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a rewarding experience that adds an extra layer of exploration and discovery to the game. While she may not be the most powerful in combat, her ability to find hidden treasure makes her a valuable asset to any player looking to fully immerse themselves in the world of the game. So, if you are up for the challenge, embark on the quest to unlock Ms. Mowz and see all the secrets that await you in the game.
