Metal Slug Tactics, the new turn-based strategy game based on the classic SNK series, has released a demo as part of Steam Next Fest. Players are now able to immerse themselves in the game’s tactical combat and explore the first region of the game.

Metal Slug Tactics is more than just a typical strategy game. Described as a “roguelike tactical RPG,” players will need to level up their Peregrine Falcons squad members, upgrade weapons with perks, and make crucial decisions on which missions to undertake and resources to collect. Engaging Combat Mechanics

In Metal Slug Tactics, each character has the ability to move and shoot during the same turn, creating a dynamic gameplay experience. By staying on the move, players can benefit from a damage reduction modifier that is vital for survival. Additionally, players can execute Sync attacks by coordinating with friendly squad members, maximizing their damage output each turn.

As squad members run, gun, and perform Sync actions, they will build up Adrenaline, which can be used to unleash powerful special abilities unique to each character. This adds a layer of strategy to the gameplay, requiring players to carefully manage their resources and make tactical decisions in order to succeed.

Pilot Armored Vehicles for an Edge

No Metal Slug game is complete without the iconic armored vehicles. In Metal Slug Tactics, players will have the opportunity to pilot various vehicles, including the Metal Slug itself. These vehicles utilize fuel as a resource, allowing players to attack multiple times as long as they have enough fuel.

While fallen squad members can be revived with a 1up token, players must be mindful of their limited number of reinforcements throughout the missions. By completing objectives, players can earn more reinforcements to bolster their squad. Metal Slug Tactics challenges players to think ahead, plan their moves carefully, and adapt to the ever-changing battlefield.
