Capcom recently made a significant announcement regarding their dinosaur shooter game, Exoprimal. The game is set to enter a seasonal rotation mode starting in mid-July 2024. This decision comes as all planned seasons for Exoprimal have concluded. In a statement, Capcom expressed their gratitude to the players for their support and confirmed that the upcoming fourth season of the game will be its final one.
Following the conclusion of the current season on 11 July, Exoprimal will adopt a new approach. The game’s first season will kick off again, with each subsequent month featuring a past season on a rotating basis. Players who may have missed out on Season Passes for the first three chapters will have the opportunity to purchase them once again. This allows players to obtain any items and rewards they may have missed during the initial release of these seasons. Additionally, player progression from previous seasons will be carried over, giving players the chance to pick up where they left off.
Despite the changes in the seasonal rotation mode, Capcom has assured players that Exoprimal will continue to be supported. Online services for the game will remain available for the foreseeable future. While certain modes may undergo tweaks, such as Savage Gauntlet no longer being tabulated after Trial 41, all gameplay modes will still be accessible. This includes the main Dino Survival mode, Savage Gauntlet, and Time Loop Rebellion. To enhance the gaming experience for solo players or those in small groups, AI-controlled Exofighters will be added to the game.
The decision to implement a seasonal rotation mode for Exoprimal comes as a surprise, especially considering the game was launched less than a year ago in late July 2023. The sudden end of new seasonal content may raise questions about the future of the game. While Capcom has expressed their commitment to supporting players who wish to continue playing, there is a sense of uncertainty looming over Exoprimal. The game faced challenges in standing out in a competitive live service market, compounded by the expectations of fans who were hoping for a new installment in the Dino Crisis franchise.
As Exoprimal transitions into a seasonal rotation mode, players can expect to revisit past seasons and continue their progression in the game. Despite the changes, Capcom remains dedicated to providing ongoing support for Exoprimal and ensuring that players can enjoy all available gameplay modes. The future of Exoprimal may be uncertain, but for now, the game will remain accessible to those who wish to embark on the dinosaur-filled adventure.
