According to Nanoleaf co-founder and CEO Gimmy Chu, Litewave provides a robust and reliable local connection that enables instantaneous control of smart lights. This technology allows the switch to communicate with all Nanoleaf lights, regardless of whether they use Thread, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi. Litewave offers users the ability to control multiple lights simultaneously without experiencing any delay or “popcorn” effect. Moreover, the protocol does not require additional devices such as a Thread border router or Matter controller, simplifying the setup process for users.
In addition to the release of the Sense smart switch, Nanoleaf is also venturing into Matter over Wi-Fi with the launch of the Essentials Matter Wi-Fi A19 Smart Bulb. This move marks a departure from the company’s previous reliance on Thread for its smart bulbs. By embracing Matter over Wi-Fi, Nanoleaf aims to cater to a broader audience, particularly targeting mass-market consumers who may be unfamiliar with Thread technology.
