Apple recently announced the addition of two new games to Apple Arcade, including Vampire Survivors Plus and Temple Run: Legends. While the inclusion of ad-free gameplay and DLC packs may seem attractive at first glance, the value proposition offered by these games is questionable. The fact that players typically have to buy DLC packs separately raises concerns about the true cost of these “free” games. Additionally, the claim of having more than 500 levels in Temple Run: Legends may sound impressive, but the quality of gameplay is ultimately more important than quantity.
Multiplayer Limitations
One of the touted features of Vampire Survivors Plus is the ability to play multiplayer with up to four people on one iOS device. While this may seem like a fun and convenient way to enjoy the game with friends, the practicality of cramming four people around a single device is questionable. This limitation may detract from the overall gaming experience, especially for players who prefer a more immersive and individualized gameplay experience.
Both Vampire Survivors Plus and Temple Run: Legends seem to lack significant innovation in terms of gameplay mechanics and overall user experience. While Vampire Survivors may offer a unique bullet hell survival game experience, the addition of ad-free gameplay and DLC packs does little to differentiate it from other similar games on the market. Similarly, Temple Run: Legends’ claim of being “the first level-based runner in the hit franchise” may not be enough to captivate audiences looking for fresh and innovative gameplay experiences.
Overall, Apple Arcade’s latest game additions may leave players feeling underwhelmed and questioning the true value of these “free” games. The inclusion of ad-free gameplay and DLC packs may seem enticing, but the lack of innovation and questionable multiplayer features raise concerns about the overall gaming experience. Players looking for truly immersive and innovative gameplay may be better off exploring other gaming options outside of the Apple Arcade platform.
