The latest Nintendo Direct showcased several upcoming game releases, including new entries for beloved franchises such as Mario, Metroid, and Zelda. One of the most anticipated announcements was “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” a new top-down adventure that will feature Zelda as the main protagonist. This marks a significant departure from the usual formula of having Link as the lead character in Zelda games. The game is scheduled to be released on September 26, generating excitement among fans of the series.
To coincide with the launch of “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” Nintendo is also introducing a special-edition Nintendo Switch Lite. The Hyrule Edition Switch Lite features a stunning gold design with black buttons and analog sticks. The back of the console showcases the iconic Hylian Crest, while the front sports a subtle Triforce emblem. This unique design pays homage to the rich lore of the Zelda series and is sure to appeal to collectors and fans alike.
Despite its eye-catching aesthetics, the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite offers standard features found in other Nintendo Switch Lite models. These include a 5.5-inch LCD touchscreen display, 32GB of storage, and a battery life of up to seven hours. It’s important to note that the Switch Lite is a handheld-only console and cannot be docked to a TV. However, it is compatible with a wide range of games available on the platform. In addition to the console, the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite comes bundled with a 12-month individual Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. This membership enables players to access classic games from various consoles, along with online multiplayer and cloud save functionality.
The Hyrule Edition Switch Lite is not the first Zelda-themed console released by Nintendo. In 2023, the company launched a special-edition Switch OLED console in anticipation of “Tears of the Kingdom’s” release. This console features gold Joy-Con controllers, a gold-accented back panel, and a white Switch dock adorned with the Triforce symbol. Players have the option of purchasing the Japanese version of the console, which is region-free and compatible with North American games, at a discounted price. Alternatively, a refurbished North American edition is available for purchase on Amazon.
