Netflix has recently revealed its latest live sports event, and this time it’s something completely unexpected. The streaming giant will be hosting a live hot dog eating showdown between two of the biggest names in competitive eating – Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi. The event, titled “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef,” promises to be the ultimate hot dog eating competition that fans have been eagerly waiting for.

The announcement of “Unfinished Beef” comes on the heels of some controversy in the world of competitive eating. Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest recently made headlines by banning Joey Chestnut from their annual 4th of July competition after he signed a deal with Impossible Foods, a vegan food company. This decision sparked outrage on social media, with many fans threatening to boycott the Nathan’s event in response. However, Netflix wasted no time in capitalizing on the drama by announcing their own hot dog eating competition featuring Chestnut and Kobayashi.

A Legendary Rivalry Reignited

Joey Chestnut, a 16-time Nathan’s contest winner and holder of several world records in hot dog consumption, will face off against his long-time rival Takeru Kobayashi. Kobayashi, known for consuming over 10,000 hot dogs in his career and famously being rivalled only by a Kodiak bear in eating competitions, recently announced his retirement due to health concerns. However, the lure of the Netflix deal was too strong to resist, and he will be coming out of retirement to participate in “Unfinished Beef.”

Fans of competitive eating have been eagerly awaiting this clash between two of the sport’s biggest names. Joey Chestnut expressed his excitement for the upcoming event, stating that Kobayashi has always been his fiercest rival and has pushed him to be better. The anticipation for this long-awaited showdown is at an all-time high, with both competitors gearing up to give the audience a spectacle they won’t soon forget.

“Unfinished Beef” is just the latest addition to Netflix’s expanding lineup of live sports events, following the success of The Netflix Cup and The Netflix Slam. The streaming service has more exciting events in store, including the highly-anticipated Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight scheduled for November. Additionally, Netflix has plans to broadcast NFL Christmas Day games this year, followed by weekly WWE Raw events starting in 2025. With a diverse range of sporting events on the horizon, Netflix is solidifying its position as a go-to destination for live sports entertainment.
