Numerous Amazon Kindle users are currently facing an unexpected issue – they are unable to download both new and previously purchased books to their e-readers. This ongoing outage has caused frustration among users who rely on their Kindle devices for reading purposes. According to moderators on Amazon’s support forums, the company is aware of the problem and is actively working to resolve it. However, attempts by users to troubleshoot the issue by resetting their devices have proven unsuccessful.
Reports from Good e-Reader have shed some light on the situation, indicating that Amazon support has attributed the problem to “server issues.” In response to queries about when the service would be restored, users were informed that it could be at least 48 hours before ebooks begin downloading again, and potentially longer. This uncertainty has left Kindle users in a state of limbo, unsure of when they will regain access to their digital library.
The problem is not isolated, with users on Reddit also sharing similar experiences with their Kindles. On Amazon’s support forums, multiple reports have surfaced detailing the issue where Kindles are only able to download the title and cover art of books before becoming stuck at 1 percent in the download progress. Furthermore, users attempting to download books from Overdrive to their Kindle devices through the Libby app are also being impacted by the outage.
Previous Kindle Issues and Unresolved Problems
Interestingly, this outage follows closely on the heels of another problem reported by Kindle users on Reddit. Last week, the “Send to Kindle” feature, which enables sideloading of ebooks and documents onto the e-readers without the need for a computer, was plagued by errors. Users received messages stating that their files could not be delivered due to a service error. Even after this initial issue, some users continued to face problems with the service into the following week, adding to the frustration of an already beleaguered user base.
The Amazon Kindle outage has disrupted the reading experience for numerous users, highlighting the dependence on digital platforms for accessing literature in today’s world. While the company works to resolve the issue, users are left waiting anxiously for a resolution, hoping to return to their reading routines soon.
