Nintendo has announced that they will be discontinuing the integration of the Switch with Twitter on June 10. This means that players will no longer have the ability to directly post screenshots from their Switch to Twitter. The company provided more in-depth details on the changes through their FAQ page, revealing that specific games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 and 3 will be impacted by this decision.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, players will no longer have the option to post from their Switch’s album to Smash World in the Nintendo Switch Online smart device app. This feature will be removed as part of the discontinuation of Twitter integration.

Similarly, in Splatoon 2, players will lose the ability to post to Twitter directly from the mailbox in Inkopolis Square. Moreover, characters appearing in posts in Inkopolis Square will now be replaced by data already present in the game’s software. The same changes will apply to Splatoon 3, where players will be unable to post from the mailbox in Splatsville and Inkopolis Plaza. Instead, data from Splatoon 3 will be sent directly to Nintendo servers, enabling users to make posts without relying on a social media account.

While players will still have the option to post screenshots and videos to Facebook, there is a possibility that this feature may also be discontinued in the future. Nintendo is exploring alternatives to social media integration for its users.

In addition to the Twitter integration changes, Nintendo is also removing the ability to send friend requests on social media from within the friend suggestions feature on the Switch. However, this feature will continue to be available on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, even though their online services were shut down last month.

Overall, these changes reflect Nintendo’s shift away from social media integration on the Switch platform. Players will need to adjust to these new limitations and find alternative ways to share their gaming experiences with the community.
