In a recent interview with Tom’s Hardware, AMD’s Senior Technical Marketing Manager of Consumer Processors, Donny Woligroski, expressed confidence in the gaming performance of the existing Ryzen 7000 X3D chips with 3D V-cache. Despite the upcoming release of the Ryzen 9000 series based on Zen 5 technology, Woligroski stated that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D would retain its position as the fastest gaming CPU. According to him, the new Zen 5 architecture may be faster than the competition in some tests, but the X3D chips are still the “kings of the hill” in terms of gaming performance.
The addition of 3D V-cache to AMD’s CPUs has proven to have a significant impact on gaming performance.
