LG’s Innovative Solution

LG has recently introduced a new “Dream OLED” panel technology that aims to address the longstanding issues with blue OLED technology. The innovation involves a new panel utilizing blue phosphorescence, a more efficient technology compared to the previous fluorescent emission tech used for blue OLED. The new LG panel reportedly uses a dual-stacked technique with both phosphorescence and fluorescent blue OLED, in an effort to achieve better efficiency and longevity.

LG’s WOLED panels have an all-white OLED emission layer that is then passed through RGB filters, while Samsung uses an all-blue OLED emission which then excites an RGB quantum dot layer. The new blue OLED solution is expected to enhance the efficiency and lifespan of OLED panels, addressing concerns related to burn-in and full-screen brightness.

LG’s Dream OLED panel technology is currently under production evaluation and could be commercialized within the year. While this means that LG could begin manufacturing the panels for sale within a year, it will take some time before PC monitors or TVs with the new panels hit the market. The introduction of this new technology by LG signals a significant advancement in OLED display technology, raising hopes for OLED panels that can rival LCD displays in terms of full-screen brightness and longevity, while mitigating issues related to burn-in.
