AT&T has recently announced a new early upgrade program for customers on their installment plan called Next Up Anytime. This program allows subscribers to upgrade their smartphones as soon as just one installment payment has been made, up to three times per year. While this may sound like an attractive offer for those who like to stay current with the latest technology, there are both pros and cons to consider before signing up for this program.

One of the main advantages of AT&T’s Next Up Anytime program is the flexibility it offers in terms of early upgrades. Customers no longer have to wait until they have paid off half of their device before being eligible for an upgrade. With Next Up Anytime, customers can trade in and upgrade their device after just 33 percent of it is paid off, allowing them to stay up to date with the latest smartphone trends.

Furthermore, for those who like to switch out their phones frequently, Next Up Anytime allows for up to three upgrades per year. This means that customers have the option to upgrade their device multiple times within a 12-month period, which can be appealing for tech enthusiasts who always want to have the newest device on the market.

While the Next Up Anytime program offers flexibility and convenience, there are also some drawbacks to consider. The cost of the program is $10 per month, which is higher than AT&T’s previous $6 per month Next Up add-on. This additional cost may not be worth it for customers who do not plan on upgrading their device multiple times per year.

Additionally, customers who choose to upgrade their device after just one installment payment and the first Next Up Anytime payment is made will not be eligible for upgrade promotions. This means that they will be paying the full price for a new device each time they upgrade, which can quickly add up in terms of expenses.

AT&T’s Next Up Anytime program has its benefits and drawbacks. The flexibility and convenience of early upgrades are attractive for customers who like to stay current with the latest technology. However, the additional cost and limitations on upgrade promotions may not make this program worthwhile for everyone. Before signing up for Next Up Anytime, customers should carefully consider their upgrade habits and budget to determine if this program is the right fit for them.
