As the release date for Shadow Of The Erdtree approaches, many players may be unaware of the hidden challenges that they will face in accessing the latest DLC. Bandai Namco has recently shed light on the fact that a large number of Steam players have not progressed far enough in the original game to unlock the DLC content. This serves as a friendly reminder to players who may be expecting a seamless transition into the new expansion.

Fans of FromSoftware’s previous Soulsborne games will not be shocked to discover that accessing the Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC is not as simple as selecting it from the game menu. The expansion is cleverly concealed behind two formidable bosses, Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood. Starscourge Radahn poses a significant challenge in the region of Caelid and serves as one of the shardbearers that players must defeat to progress in the main story.

The Elusive Mohg

On the other hand, Mohg, Lord of Blood, is a more elusive boss that requires players to embark on a complex journey to reach him. Located in the Mohgwyn Palace, Mohg can only be accessed by using a teleporter in the secret Consecrated Snowfield region. To activate this teleporter, players must collect two halves of a secret medallion scattered throughout the Lands Between and defeat an NPC invader. Once inside Mohgwyn Palace, players must navigate through a lengthy level before facing off against Mohg himself.

According to Steam achievement stats highlighted by Twitch streamer Cohh Carnage, nearly two-thirds of Elden Ring players on Steam have not managed to defeat Mohg. This data reveals that approximately 38% of players have successfully conquered the boss, leaving over 62% without the achievement. Bandai Namco has emphasized the importance of defeating Mohg in preparation for the upcoming DLC.

With the release of Shadow Of The Erdtree on June 21st, players who have yet to defeat Mohg are urged to expedite their progress. The entrance to the new DLC area will be located behind the arena where Mohg is encountered, represented by the withered arm hanging from the cocoon. Players must eliminate Mohg to access the DLC and explore the new content involving Miquella, brother of Malenia.

The challenges presented in accessing the Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC serve as a testament to the intricate world-building and gameplay design of Elden Ring. Players are encouraged to overcome these hurdles and immerse themselves in the rich storytelling and rewarding gameplay that FromSoftware has crafted. Good luck to all adventurers embarking on this journey!
